There have been some famous people who have come out of Brantford.  One such person is Keith Jones who is a sports caster.  Phil Hartman, who has since passed, was an actor on NewsRadio and probably most famous for being a cast member on Saturday Night Live.  One person who may be less known is James Hillier, who invented the electron microscope, which has become a very important piece of science equipment.  For those who frequent Toronto, Harry Barberian came from Brantford—he owns Toronto’s Barberian’s Steak House.  The cirque du soleil has become a very popular performance and a fun place for a date if you are looking for a great evening out for your relationship. Of course who can forget Brent Gretzky and Wayne Gretzky?  Both are former professional hockey players.   Wayne Gretzky is currently a managing partner and head coach for the Phoenix Coyotes NHL hockey team.1

The Brant Museum and Archives is a great place to take the family.  There are events and exhibitions that are both educational and fun.  One such exhibit is the evolution of photography exhibit.  Here you can learn about how photography evolved from the flash photo to digital photography of today.  Another fun and educational tidbit is on Alexander Graham Bell.  Yes, he invented the telephone, but he did so much more during his lifetime.  He was dedicated to working with the deaf and mute and humanitarian efforts. The Brant Museum and Archives has a look at the life and times of Alexander Graham Bell.  One thing that is really interesting about this museum is that they have put together an educational program that starts from grade 1 through grade 6.  Additionally, educational outreach kits for all ages can be loaned from the museum that contains artifacts, replicas, and photographs from the different time periods.
