When working with individuals, Anaka found that EMDR was helpful to many clients struggling with low self-esteem, insecurities, depression and anxiety that stem from childhood issues.
How EMDR Helps Individuals:
• Teaches how to develop and employ coping mechanisms for reducing stress and anxiety
• Discover your internal negative messages that impact your current life
• Replace those negative cognitions with positive cognitions
• Help you to reprocess emotional trauma without needing to revisit every detail
• Regain feelings of peace and calm surrounding emotionally disturbing events

Training and Credentials:
After Anaka received a Bachelor's Degree in Community Rehabilitation in 1999 from the University of Calgary and a Master of Arts degree in Rehabilitation Counseling in 2003 from the University of Arizona, in Tucson, AZ, she has worked continuously on improving and expanding her professional skills and knowledge by completing additional trainings and certifications including:
 • Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC),
• Certified Imago Relationship Therapist (CIRT),
• Basic Training Program in EMDR,
• Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists.

After reading "Getting the Love you Want: A Guide for Couples" by Harville Hendrix in late 2005 and attending a "Getting the Love you Want" Couple's Workshop in Calgary with her husband in 2006, Anaka pursued training in 2007 to become a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist.

Since then, she has trained in EMDR as a means to help individual clients better deal with trauma, emotional disturbances, and anxiety that are preventing them from moving forward in life.

In recent years, Anaka has worked hard to earn the designation of a Registered Psychologist in Alberta, including receiving 1600 hours of supervised practice as a Provisional Psychologist and writing the National Board Exam for Professional Practice in Psychology. In doing so, she has expanded her knowledge and her ability to take on clients with diverse personal challenges.

Another benefit of her Registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists, is that clients who have third party insurance have the ability to claim their counseling receipts for reimbursement (within their policy limits), thereby making it more affordable to receive the necessary help.
