I joined The Relational Center's counseling staff in early 2015 as an Associate Clinical Social Worker after having received my Masters in Social Work from New York University’s Silver School.  I have provided psychotherapy to clients of diverse cultural backgrounds; serving adults, adolescents, individuals, couples, and groups alike.
In my work with psychotherapy clients, I emphasize four tenets of practice:
From a very early age we are subject to inescapable messages from dominant culture, our social sphere, and familial pressures to be a certain way.  Part of our work together will center around separating out who you think you “should” be from who you actually are.  We will collaborate to cultivate an integrated acceptance of self and where you are in your life, promoting a rich landscape for change to occur at a pace that is comfortable for you.
As we are becoming increasingly reliant on technology, we prioritize individualism and fleeting connection over deeply intimate relationships, resulting in higher levels of anxiety, depression, and loneliness.  In our work together, we will consider ways to cultivate more meaningful connections that inspire vulnerability and intimacy, and build greater awareness around fears and conflicts that may be hindering your ability to do so. An integral part of building sustainable relationships comes from considering the needs you have that are not currently being met and illuminating ones you may not even be aware of.  We will clearly identify your needs and further develop the skills needed to communicate them to others, so that you can finally be heard when doing so!
Supportive Environment:
A core foundation for good therapeutic work is a relationship built on warmth, empathy, and trust, where both parties are continually growing and learning from each other.  We will co-create a supportive and safe environment that values transparency and explores the ways we each are impacted.  We will investigate your experience as it occurs moment-to-moment by maintaining curiosity around what is happening in both your mind and body and encourage you to continue this practice outside of the therapy room.
Finally, it is imperative to note that not all therapy sessions must be intense and serious! There is much to be learned from playful shared moments.  Our work will incorporate humor as an entry to meaningful connection and give weight to celebrating all of your joys and accomplishments. Together we will help you connect to the strengths that you innately possess, and build out a more meaningful and enriching life full of nourishing relationships, laughter, and a greater sense of well-being.
Previous Experience:
I possess experience across a variety of clinical settings. I have previously worked in Los Angeles as an Associate at David Plotkin, Ph.D. & Associates, where I specialized in offering individually-tailored cognitive behavioral therapy to clients seeking treatment for anxiety and mood disorders.  During my time in New York, I interned with The Leadership Program, a school-based community service agency that cultivated leadership skills in high-school students and offered academic and emotional support through individual counseling and groupwork.  I have also previously interned with New York Counseling and Clinical Social Work Services, where I assisted clients in managing anxiety and mood disorders, stress reduction, relationship distress, and growth during life transitions.
I possess formal training in cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and psychodynamic psychotherapy. I am currently training in the Relational Gestalt treatment model at both the Pacific Gestalt Institute and The Relational Center, where I work under supervision.
