Do you have difficulty controlling your temper? Do you lack a sense of inner peace? Anger is a healthy emotion, but when it gets out of control, it can become toxic. It destroys your work day; it hurts your relationships with the people you care about, and most importantly ~ it hurts you. Utilizing cognitive-based mindfulness strategies, I can help you learn how to modulate the thoughts and emotions that cause your anger, discover its roots, and help you live your life from a place of balance and authenticity.

For some of us, anger is our "go-to" emotion. While I believe that all emotions are OK, it is important to express anger in such a way that it does not hurt others or ourselves. I'll teach you the keys to understanding the messages in your anger. You'll learn how to express yourself from your heart, and do it in a tactful way so that your relationships grow instead of wither. I use research-based tools developed by Dr. John Gottman and Dr. Julie Gottman, world renowned for marriage counseling. These techniques help you whether you are married or not. All your relationships can thrive. I do NOT offer court-ordered anger management evaluations.

Grey Matters International and the work of Kevin J. Fleming, Ph.D approaches issues of anger management in a very humane yet fresh perspective. You see, anger is a normal emotion but it is the valence (intensity) as well as the coupling choice of what one does with this that is the problem. Telling someone to "not" do it or modifying behavior with a trite psychological plan that only breeds a compliant response is not the way to change anger. Brainwave optimization is a new cutting edge technology that allows one to rewire circuitry responsible for reactivity driving the anger. Contact Grey Matters International, Inc now at email@example.com or 877-606-6161.

Very often people find that their angry outbursts surprise them (and those around them). This occurs most often because we haven't dealt with the real source of the anger. Clients often try to convince themselves that they are "over it" or that "it doesn't matter" when, in fact, they aren't over it and it does matter. I see this quite a lot in women - who tend to be socialize not to show anger. Therefore it leaks out in more passive aggressive and subtle ways. It's still anger - but it can be inflicted on herself or the true reason for the anger can be veiled making it difficult for others to figure how why there is an outburst.

If you find yourself feeling unusually angry at your partner, or feeling angry much of the time toward several other people, I can help you get to the bottom of your stewing anger. I can help you understand the reaction in the brain that makes you want to fight, as well as how sweeping it under the rug leads to blowing up. I can teach you ways to interrupt your anger before it builds and to express it in appropriate ways so that you can improve your relationships with others instead of damage them with anger.
If you have been engaging in physically abusive/aggressive behavior, please seek help from a Family Violence Intervention Program.

Picture an iceberg. The tip, which is just a small piece of the whole iceberg that sticks up above the water, is anger. The rest of the iceberg, the 90% below the surface which we can't see, is a jumble of other feelings and experiences which have caused the tip (the anger) to manifest itself above the surface.
Together, we will explore the anger, and discover the rest of the iceberg. We will work side by side in a process which is collaborative in nature, and in a space which is peaceful and non-judgmental, private and accepting of whatever challenges you face. We will overcome the anger and set you on a path of peace and contentment.

I have worked with Anger Management since my first practicum in 2003. This is an area that I am very comfortable working with and I draw on my personal experience with anger and successful (mostly!) anger management skills. My 8 years as a Domestice Violence Offender counselor gave me excellent training on working with the difficult to work with and I am pretty good at seeing through crusty exteriors.
