Depression is a common issue which can range from mild changes in mood to an inability to even get out of bed in the morning. We can offer hope to those struggling with feelings of despair and a lack of motivation or enjoyment in daily activities. Talking through the feelings and discovering the mistaken core beliefs that keep someone stuck, can create freedom from the feeling of hopelessness. Therapy can help with all depression symptoms from insomnia to excessive sleeping, and changes in appetite to suicidal thoughts.

Those who have never been depressed likely do not have much understanding of what you are going through. Getting up in the morning is likely hard for you and those things that used to be easy are suddenly hard. You're depressed and you want hope more than anything. I will help you understand not only why you are depressed but provide you a path to that place where life is once again enjoyable. I will assist you in understanding the neurophysiological underpinnings of your depression and how tightly that is connected with your thinking, your behaviors, and certainly your relationships to other people. I will give you a step-by-step approach in removing the pain and returning to joy.

When you are depressed, it's hard to have hope or see light at the end of the tunnel. Let me come along side in your depression, because I can see a way out and I have great hope that you can find the happiness you desire. When you get discouraged, have someone on your side who is unburdened by the depression yet understands the depth of your pain. If you are ready to be finished with depression and toss it out of your life, then you are ready for counseling. As a therapist, I search for my clients' true self in the darkness and lead them confidently and gently toward the light.

Depression feels like quick sand. Having struggled with depression in my own journey, I can empathize with those who are currently struggling with the sense of feeling overwhelmed, lack of energy and motivation, even despair. Then there is the sense of shame that hangs around depression. That can be incredibly de-motivating. Depression is the problem. You are not the problem. Looking at the whole person, body, soul, and spirit - that is my approach. I’ve had success helping people achieve an energetic, hopeful approach to life. Can you really hope to change? Yes! Where will you find the energy to move through and past this? Borrow some of mine until we find yours. Don’t wait any longer.

Depression is a boulder sized burden a person is forced to carry wherever he or she goes. It is not so unlike the mythological person, Sisyphus, who is forever cursed to push a boulder up hill. In working with clients, I believe it is important to address the nature of the boulder size burdens that insist on being one’s constant companion. In understanding their nature, it becomes possible to set the boulder aside allowing for a clearer vision of what lies ahead and a lighter step, with more energy to move on. However, depression, unlike a boulder, is not content to be set aside. It wants to be carried. Therefore, it takes dedication and creative direction to outwit its needy grasp.

While depression is not always easy to understand or explain, we believe that working from a solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral perspective allows you to gain insight and develop skills which can create new hope and purpose for the future and a confidence that you have the capability of managing your mood and response, rather than feeling that your mood and emotions are managing you – helping you achieve a greater sense of personal contentment and confidence.
