Psychotherapy can be a frightening word because “psycho” brings up images of Norman Bates and he is certainly someone none of us want to be associated with. The truth is that psychotherapy is just a fancy word for counseling. If “therapy” is used alone, people ask if it is physical therapy, occupational therapy, etc. A prefix was needed to distinguish it from other therapies and unfortunately “psycho” was chosen. Please don’t let the word stop you from seeking any necessary help you may be seeking. Needing help doesn’t mean you are crazy or that you are weak. We all need help at various stages of our lives and if you are in need now, please let me assist you. Call me at 714-751-0888.

The process of therapy is and should be tailored to each individual's life experience. Research shows that clients in therapy, who seek assistance to deal with a whole range of issues, challenges, thoughts, and emotions, can experience a positive benefit. In our collaborative work, we will complete a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment, where we look at many life factors that may be contributing to those challenges for which therapy is being considered. After an assessment, we will have a clearer idea of core values, possible goals and many ideas on designing a flexible plan that is easy to understand and use to bring about the transformation desired.

James Hillman once said, "We've had a hundred years of psychotherapy and the world is getting worse." While there are many occasions where the validation and listening endemic to psychotherapy makes sense, there are times where we over assume that "feeling better" and "changing behavior" are the same. Grey Matters International, Inc. goes after the forgotten brain laws to behavior change that therapists miss when processing hours and hours of dialogues with people. Utilizing a cutting edge technology to facilitate the emotional process of change, we can make the therapy process way more effective, faster, and with less money spent. My approach to psychotherapy is collaborative in that I work with my clients to unearth dysfunctional patterns of behaving or relating that are keeping them from the fulfilling lives and/or relationships they seek. As a solutions-focused psychotherapist I use complementary therapy approaches and techniques to teach clients new skills, increase understanding and insight, and build healthier lifestyle habits that are customized to address their unique therapy goals. My clients are encouraged to practice these new behaviors and ways of thinking between sessions so that the changes they make through our work together produce more satisfying and fulfilling lives.
