Loveland is on the way to the Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park, which brings a fair amount of tourists through the city during the summertime. During the summertime, there is also a concert series that occurs from June through August. The concerts are held at various venues around town and are a great opportunity to take the family out, or for couples to enjoy on a date night. The Rialto Theater, has local performances, like the Little Mermaid, which was performed last June.1 Another great family outing is during the fourth of July, when there will be a celebration held at North Lake Park followed by a fireworks show. Teenagers also have a concert called “Teen Battle of the Bands” held in July and is free to the public. What a great family experience!

Additionally, children who are physically active garner emotional benefits as well, among them better self-esteem, greater self-confidence, and improved mood. Loveland is the second highest rent burdened city in all of Colorado. As a result, many low-income and poverty stricken families are forced to rely on friends and family for shelter. Still others remain without a home. Homelessness, especially for children, can be a significant emotional burden, leading to mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. To help families move up the property ladder, Loveland Habitat for Humanity builds homes that poor residents can both afford and enjoy. Supplementary educational programs teach new homeowners about the financial responsibilities of homeownership, as well as provide valuable life skills for sustained success and independence. For additional details, call 970-669-9769.4
Family Services and Assistance Programs
The staff at House of Neighborly Service takes it upon themselves to deliver support and assistance services to needy families in the Loveland area. They assist veterans and disabled residents with applications for mental and physical health benefits to which they are entitled. Recognizing the importance of a child's education, the agency offers school supplies and clothing so children feel comfortable attending school and interacting with their teachers and peers. Parents can get an education as well: GED courses are offered, as are classes to improve everything from cooking to money management.
