For some people compulsive eating or dieting is just a way to get rid of bad feelings. The problem is that the bad feelings always come back. Compulsive and addictive behaviors - like obsessive and compulsive disorder, gambling, sexual addictions, eating disorders, cutting, etc. - can work very much like alcohol and substance abuse. Eating disorders often result from trauma or family related issues. I focus on your relationship with food and finding healthier ways to manage the stress in your life without turning to food as a way to do this. I trained specifically in eating disorders as I believe this is an area that requires a lot of education and training. I have also been working with the bariatric population for 16 years and help individuals with their weight loss journey.
