Depression is a debilitating condition that can be either situational and other times genetically driven despite your external world. Things can appear great on the outside and you may feel you do not have any "reasons" to feel bad, yet you still do! At KML, we do not judge people for having depression. We understand that much of this is beyond your immediate control! And yet, it is the positive thing is that depression is treatable and life can improve! We teach DBT, CBT restructuring, cognitive appraisal strategies and other techniques to help you make immediate change. Most of therapy or counseling processes utilize validation, unconditional positive regard, and reframing as common techniques to get someone to heal from their depression. Though this can be helpful, it rarely fixes the core problem behind it and for tough cases we then refer them usually to a psychiatrist for medication which can have tons of side effects. Much of my practice focuses on persons suffering from depression. Clients include college age students, young and middle-aged adults as well as the elderly. I engage a number of beneficial therapy modalities including: crisis intervention, psychoeducation, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic narrative, guided imagery and critical stress debriefing. Due to the high prevalance of cooccurence specifically anxiety, sleep disturbance and depression, integrative therapy modalities are employed. Every session utilizes Carl Rogers' famous client centered model and places priority on establishing a warm, safe, empathic environment conducive to achieving favorable outcomes and restoration.

Therapy offers a powerful and multifaceted approach to navigating depression, and when incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), its benefits are amplified. CBT provides practical tools to identify and challenge negative thought patterns that fuel depressive symptoms, fostering more realistic and positive thinking. Simultaneously, EMDR can address underlying emotional distress, including past adverse experiences or traumas that may contribute to depression, by reprocessing these memories in a safe and controlled way. This combined approach not only equips you with coping mechanisms for present challenges but also helps to heal the roots of emotional pain, leading to more profound and lasting relief from depression, enhanced r
