Many people feel they may be "depressed" and therefore seek out the assistance of a therapist. First we must determine if you have a clinical depression. The term depression is used widely but often an individual is just feeling sad about an event and does not have a true clinical depression. This will involve a thorough assessment. Your concerns will be the focus of therapy. We may include your family and/or friends as needed. Recommending medication is never my first choice, but in some cases, a referral to your Primary Care Physician or a Psychiatrist for medication evaluation may be helpful to take the edge off of symptoms so you can work more effectively in session.

Things can appear great on the outside and you may feel you do not have any "reasons" to feel bad, yet you still do! At KML, we do not judge people for having depression. Much of my practice focuses on persons suffering from depression. Clients include college age students, young and middle-aged adults as well as the elderly. I engage a number of beneficial therapy modalities including: crisis intervention, psychoeducation, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic narrative, guided imagery and critical stress debriefing. Due to the high prevalance of cooccurence specifically anxiety, sleep disturbance and depression, integrative therapy modalities are employed. Every session utilizes Carl Rogers' famous client centered model and places priority on establishing a warm, safe, empathic environment conducive to achieving favorable outcomes and restoration.
