Let me help you with: Couples/Relationship Issues, Low Self Esteem, and Personal Growth
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in practice for over thirty years. I'm a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work and hold an advanced Certificate from Pitt in Couples and Family Therapy. I recently retired from a career at the Department of Veterans Affairs where I proudly served military Veterans and their families providing services in many areas of Mental Health. Specifically, I worked in substance abuse, individual, family and couples therapy, PTSD, chronic psychiatric illness and homelessness. I am an Air Force Veteran. I've been married for forty three years and have two adult sons. I've experienced a broad spectrum of life's challenges personally and professionally which have prepared me to fully understand the many issues you may be dealing with.
Patients often comment on my collaborative and "easy to talk with style". My goal is to help you access the strengths within you to sustain you in life long after therapy ends. I work with individuals who are experiencing feelings of being overwhelmed, stressed, sad, or anxious associated with issues stemming from work, home, relationships, retirement, loss, and health challenges. Partnering with you, together, we will utilize proven therapies to reach YOUR goals. Everything that has occurred in your life has had an impact on who you are today. In order to provide the best care for you, I need to know as much about you as possible. The assessment completed in our first session will provide me with a snapshot of your current and extended family system, your health and wellness information, and your history from birth to present. It is all about you, as it should be. I have developed a network of Tampa Bay's finest clinicians should you require a referral for specialized care while seeing me. For example, when partnering with a couple, I sometimes note that one member would benefit from individual sessions with another therapist or perhaps one of their children needs individual attention. It is my focus to see you as a whole person, not just deal with a part. I want to get to the core of problems. I will do everything I can to promote your success and make each individual and couple feel a part of therapy. Your concerns matter to me. Together, we will plan and strategize for the best outcome. I welcome questions throughout the course of therapy and will frequently ask you "Is therapy helping?", "Is this what you want to do?". You are actively involved in your care. I keep up with the latest professional and current research on Evidence Based Therapies by reading professional literature and attending trainings/seminars. In addition, I meet regularly with my peers to participate in case conferences and to exchange ideas on how to best serve my patients. While I understand individual's financial reasons to utilize insurance, I am an advocate for private fee for service for the following reasons:
- To ensure the content of your sessions remains confidential. Utilizing insurance coverage gives the insurance company the right to request copies of the therapists records for review.
- To avoid having a mandatory mental health diagnosis in your record. The therapist must give you a diagnosis in order to comply with insurance company policies for reimbursement.
- To have control over your own care. You and the therapist determine the length, frequency and number of your sessions. Insurance companies dictate those terms for reimbursement.
- To obtain faster service because the therapist will not have to wait for insurance authorization.
If you want to learn more about my style of therapy as seen through the eyes of previous patients, please read the "Testimonials" section on my personal website at www.georgerohrmann.com I look forward to working with you. Please feel free to contact me by phone or email with any of your questions.
Best to you----George
