As a licensed doctor with a Ph.D. and LMFT, I specialize in DBT, EMDR, trauma recovery, addictions, Gottman and Imago therapy, marital counseling, and hypnosis. I’m also trained in Terry Real and Tony Robbins methods. My team and I serve individuals and couples across 6 South Florida locations with compassionate, expert care.

Our perceptions dictate our thoughts. Our thoughts tell us how to feel. Sometimes we perceive others or the world in an unrealistically harsh or dangerous manner. Psychotherapy helps us understand how our thoughts have developed over time and how they contribute to our difficulties. During psychotherapy we examine the ways our minds work. We explore certain patterns of irrational thinking that have led to misperceptions in regards to ourselves and others.

I became a psychologist 42 years ago when I earned a PhD from Cornell University, and years later I was trained as a Marriage and Family Therapist at Nova University. My training and experience in psychology has given me priceless insights into human nature and human development. Instead of simply accepting various therapies, I am able to draw on psychology to help me make very important decisions about which therapies are most effective, and why. Still, my practice is largely about relationships rather than individuals in a vacuum.

I have had extensive training as a psychologist. First I obtained a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from Boston College and 2 years later returned for my Ph.D. As a psychologist I give great emphasis to the interaction between nature and nurture. I approach therapy from a narrative perspective by encouraging you to understand and tell your story but also encourage you to identify ways in which you are able to overcome your obstacles. I like to place emphasis on your own personal resources and take a holistic approach into healing.

Dr. Kelsey has a team of excellent therapists and also has three psychologists on her team as well - they specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, test anxiety, insomnia, infertility, marriage/family and forensics. Psychologists receive several years of additional training before going off to further specialize in areas of postdoctoral training.
