Relationship problems are a part of life. There is no perfect person or perfect relationship. We love working with couples because we often see quick results. Our approach is to empower the couple and teach them how to truly communicate effectively. Often couples fight over the same topics over and over again. We teach couples to actively listen to each other so both can be heard and feel safe. Emotional wounds tend to start during childhood. Part of our approach is to have each partner understand the other's wounds and learn how to help heal those wounds by using research based approaches based on attachment theory. The result is a deeper understanding of self and the other.

I am certified to teach couples communication based on the book "Fighting for Your Marriage". I find that most arguments and chronic stress are the result of a couples inability to express themselves in such a way as to be understood by their partner. I take into account the individual personalities of each person in the relationship and help them find a more constructive way to communicate with each other given their personal traits. I am skilled in individual therapy as well and may find it necessary to see one or both members of the couple individually if necessary. Relationship and conversation are the hallmark of my type of counseling.

I really enjoy working with couples because it give me the chance to help people recapture the love that they lost and to heal many of the wounds that they have experienced. I spend a lot of time helping couples work through and get past the arguments that keep plaguing their relationships, I help them to understand each other and communicate at deeper and more effective levels, and I help them to increase emotional and physical intimacy in their relationship.
