Children often express their experiences and feelings through play, and this becomes an important tool for learning about themselves and others. Children often express and resolve inner conflicts through their play. My approach to counseling with children is to work collaboratively with the parents. counseling with children is part of a family systems approach. Children need a solid, constant source of care. Therapy can help the child express their emotions and deal with any disorder(s) they may have. It also brings the issues to the attention of the parents so they can better deal with the situation and make more time for their child.
