Depression is a state that affects a person's mind, emotions, and body. Depression can create a dysphoric mood, lethargy, profound sadness, low self-esteem, and/or anxiety. Rather than medicating the depression away as a permanent solution, I approach your depression with intense curiosity in an effort to help you understand and heal the source of the depression.

You did not choose depression, and it is not something that can simply be “shaken off.” Depression is real, life-altering, and can convince you that happiness or peace will never return. Yet depression does not define you. Together, we can acknowledge its weight while also challenging the painful story it tells. My role is to walk with you through the heaviness, to hold space for the difficulty, and to help you discover that hope and healing are possible. You do not have to face this alone.

Often what I find is that there are circumstances that have hurt my client, sometimes without them even realizing the impact this has had in their life. I am a therapist who provides individual therapy to clients experiencing depression. I work with individuals who may be feeling overwhelmed, emotionally disconnected, unmotivated, or stuck in patterns that impact their daily functioning and sense of self. In therapy, I help clients explore how thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relational experiences contribute to depressive symptoms. Together, we work to increase self-awareness, develop healthier coping strategies, and build skills that support emotional regulation and resilience. My goal is to help clients gain clarity, reconnect with themselves and others, and move toward improved emotional well-being and a greater sense of balance.

One of my favorite trick questions to ask patients hospitalized for depression was, "Is the sky ever grey?" Even though most of the time I TOLD them it was a trick question, they usually said, "Yes." Just like the sky only looks grey because clouds are covering up the sun, we can often FEEL "grey" when depression is covering us. My goal is to help you to get rid of the cloud so that your life can be what it was intended to be.
