I work with families to help improve communication and create healthier and more effective patterns of living. I also strive to provide support for families who are living or caring for someone who is suffering from a mental, physical or emotional illness. I provide support for parents who are raising teenagers as well. I use a family systems approach in my work with families.

Family therapy is an effective stand-alone treatment and can often be complementary to individual therapy, especially when working with children and adolescents. The aim of family therapy is to develop insight and understanding into relationship dynamics and family structures that may be contributing to dysfunction for one or several family members and ultimately identify develop healthier, more adaptive means of resolving conflict within the family system.

As a marriage and family therapist, I have specialized training focused on improving family dynamics. I have worked with families struggling with major life transitions, parent-child conflict, addiction, complex grief in situations such as suicide, and several other challenges that today's families face. I consult with families who have a loved one with an eating disorder. Families are in the dark when it comes to knowing how to handle the day-to-day functioning with their family member, how to help, where to go for appropriate expert treatment and how to approach their loved one with their concerns. Often families use their natural instincts to help and find they are making the problems worse. Sometimes husbands or wives need help addressing their worries to their mates as well. This is very tricky, but can be facilitated with help. I offer support, information, specific guidelines and resources for families who hire me in this type of scary situation.
