I help my clients learn how to manifest their hearts desire through their career. You can learn how to connect to your passions and what brings you joy in life. Once you are aware of your deepest desires then you can make career choices that feel satisfying, meaningful and rewarding. This process starts with learning to feel your feelings and take responsibility for them and then taking loving actions for yourself to find a career that you love.

Career counseling from a mental health lens looks different than working with a career coach. My focus isn't on the technical side of job searching. It's on helping you figure out why you feel stuck, burned out, or disconnected from your work. Using CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), we'll examine the beliefs and fears getting in your way, clarify what actually matters to you, and build a path forward that aligns with who you are. ACT is especially useful here because it helps you stop fighting your thoughts and start moving toward the career you actually want.

Learning how to navigate the professional world can be more than daunting. We are given the skills and tools we need to actually complete jobs, but not the training to learn how to navigate the political and ever changing professional world. In counseling with me, you will gain insight into your hopes for the future, as well as the fears that might hold you in what is currently comfortable. From there, we will set practical and achievable goals both for the short and long term, helping you to realize your perfect or dream career!

Many clients benefit from Vocational or Career Counseling. Often they do not know career goals or stuck in their present job. Chris Colasuonno has an Master in Business Degree and vast experience providing Career Counseling and Vocational Training. As a Life Coach, many skills transfer over to Career Counseling where we analyze your goals and job path. Chris has counseled many individuals in the Putnam and Westchester County area.

Career Counseling will look like life coaching in sessions using an individualized plan to formulate goals, identify strengths, discuss interests and using a guide to assist in career development, and insights will be discovered in how to better gain a sense of fulfillment at work. Learning ways to find a job, build connections, and become employable will also take place.

Clients plagued by perfectionism, or self-esteem related difficulties can develop insight, increase self-esteem, learn communication skills, and heal from past painful life experiences to learn more about themselves and what career they may see themselves in. Individuals can learn emotion regulation and interpersonal skills to assist in building confidence.

Earning a living is a major part of our lives; ideally it should be fulfilling as well as providing for material needs. If you are unhappy in your work life, there are many approaches and choices that can radically improve it. Sometimes it is a matter of altering attitude and motivation so that you exude energy not resignation. Transitioning to a new position of responsibility can call for flexibility in modifying work habits, and handling interpersonal relationships. Making a career change is more possible than most of us realize, I began my professional training as a therapist in my late 50's after working in technology for 35 years. I can help you sort out how to move forward.
