When I work with clients in psychotherapy my focus is on careful listening to their emotional experience and responses. I am especially attuned to listening and learning about the quality of their closest connections. Oftentimes when an individual, couple or family is in pain it is nearly always an indication that their most important relationships are suffering in some way. My listening and responses are focused on the clients experiences with those that matter most to them and to help them find ways to express what they truly need and want from those that they are most emotionally dependent upon. I help them connect with that vulnerable place within them.

My philosophy of therapy and change is that change comes from within. As a therapist, I ask a great deal in asking an individual to change, as change is an incredibly difficult task for everyone. The journey of change requires both the client and myself to work collaboratively throughout this journey. It is for this reason that the rapport between the client and myself is critical. I aim to provide all my clients with the space to explore their underlying feelings, thoughts, and behaviors so that they can engage in change.

Like most human experiences, I believe that Psychotherapy is a process. It needs a significant investment of time an energy and can be navigated in three stages: 1. Exploration; 2. Identification; 3. Change. My role as a therapist is to create the space for people to explore and identify some areas within themselves that they want to change and take the risk.

Psychotherapy is an umbrella term for the work I do with clients. With couples psychotherapy involves the Gottman method and with individuals it involves many different approaches that are best suited for the individual at hand. Through psychotherapy, I provide a safe space for clients to share what they've been going through as well as their goals and guide them in reaching those goals.

I am certified in cognitive processing therapy and EMDR, both evidence based practices for the treatment of traumatic experiences and/or PTSD. Additionally, I am trained in interpersonal psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, and frequently use elements of mindfulness based practices to treat depression and anxiety.

I will show you how to use self concordant goals in order to achieve desired results in your job, marriage or with your children. Self concordant goals are goals that you choose that are aligned with your deep personal values and interests.

My clients often see significant improvement within two months of starting therapy, though many are also looking for longer-term support. I’ll start off by hearing your story and walking you through a set of questions to help me understand your symptoms and your therapy goals. Depending on your goals, I will suggest the best treatment approach, possibly dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), or Mindfulness-Based Stress Relief. In session we'll do things like talk about your experiences, practice meditation, and take small steps to change and heal.

I am a trauma specialist who loves supporting college students, post-college grads navigating early adulthood, and adult children of emotionally immature parents. I focus on: -EMDR for trauma and PTSD -Overcoming depression and anxiety -Clinical Hypnosis -Recovering from abuse (physical, sexual, emotional) -Dealing with emotionally immature parents In addition to talk therapy, I offer an integrated approach to trauma healing that can include EMDR and clinical hypnosis for clients who want to try alternative treatments to reduce traumatic memories, get to know their healthier adult self, set boundaries others, and build more rewarding intimate relationships.
