I believe that an attuned and empathic relationship is the basis for effective therapy. Therapy can provide the space to address difficult life issues with support and guidance. I work to create an atmosphere of safety and respect in which issues can emerge, be understood and resolved. Psychotherapy can lead to deep and lasting change, and empower you to live life to the fullest.

Whether working with individuals or couples, I utilize an individualized and collaborative approach to psychotherapy. I am often asked by prospective clients how long or in what way I treat a particular issue and my response is that I do not use a cookie-cutter approach to people and their presenting problems. Everyone is unique and has their own set of strengths and challenges. In our first session, I will provide you with my assessment of the presenting problem and recommendations for treatment and long term sustained recovery. If you are not comfortable with my approach or with me, I will assist you in finding another therapist.

In our talk therapy sessions, your teen can come as they are. There are no judgments or prerequisites for my clients. My approach is person-centered. Your teen will explore who they are, what they want to accomplish, and how they can get themselves there. They will do this work in a supportive and welcoming environment. The goal is self-actualization. Your teen will realize their potential and together we will address the thoughts and behaviors that have been acting as barriers to their success. It is an exciting journey, and I am honored to be part of it!

Unhappy uncooperative children and teens often do not want to go to psychotherapy because it focuses on their negatives behaviors. I have developed child-friendly techniques that are highly effective because they are fun and entertaining. When children enjoy coming to therapy they are open to constructive criticism and are willing to try new patterns of behavior. The success that results raises self-esteem and fosters empathy for others.

My philosophy of therapy and change is that change comes from within. As a therapist, I ask a great deal in asking an individual to change, as change is an incredibly difficult task for everyone. The journey of change requires both the client and myself to work collaboratively throughout this journey. It is for this reason that the rapport between the client and myself is critical. I aim to provide all my clients with the space to explore their underlying feelings, thoughts, and behaviors so that they can engage in change.
