When I work with couples, I start by focusing on the primary problem in the relationship, which usually involves communication issues. Using the tools, techniques, and steps from Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, we move together through three stages of work: first, on stabilizing the relationship; second, on establishing a new, and deeper bond; and third, on creating new stories and solutions to what it means to live a life together. I find that Emotionally Focused Therapy provides the structure needed to help couples heal the split in their relationship.

It is very common in the life of a relationship to reach a phase where it seems impossible to move forward. Frustrated couples often feel stuck and feel that getting through to their partners seems hopeless. Disappointment, anger and fear begin to replace the initial hopes.
