As a school based counselor in Wayne and Monroe counties, for many years I had the opportunity to counsel young children, adolescents and teens individually and in a group setting. At the high school level I have taught a class in several high schools called "Reconnecting Youth." This class addressed academics, drug use and social skills. In a high school setting students were seen for counseling to address concerns of self esteem, anger, drug use, bullying and various other issues and concerns. I have counseling children K-12th grade with family issues including having a family member who had a drug addiction.

Currently there are very few providers supporting who we lovingly call "the littles" of our community. This is the 10 and under demographic. Children start to experience stressors earlier and earlier and as the veil of childhood innocence falls they need help coping. Connecting with a professional early on can help out littles make sense of the world. We also provide family and parental coaching to handle challenging behaviors. We incorporate play, art, and music into our work and are in the process of brining on a therapy dog as well.

I offer counseling typically to children 12+ If the child is younger than 12, and needs support for entering middle school, or peer/ social skills with my experience K-12, and graduate school age, please inquire re: need!
