Low mood and depression can really impact your relationship. Our sessions will address the negative cycles that are occurring in your relationship that can fuel your low mood such as money, intimacy/sex, communication, parenting, chores, impact of not enough time, etc. Together, we’ll work toward healing and restoring connection in a safe, supportive space. Depression is often controlled by our unconscious feelings, thoughts, memories, and dreams. Drawing on Positive Psychology and other therapeutic models, I help clients to understand how we relive early experiences unconsciously, and I coach them on behavioral techniques they can use to overcome the vicious cycle of negativity and change their present. These include a blend of empirically based techniques clients can use at work or at home to overcome depression, end self-sabotage, and get unstuck.

I will help you explore the roots of your depression, whether it stems from relationship issues, low self-esteem, biochemistry, or some combination of them. We will formulate an individualized plan of action to help you address the sources of your unhappiness so that you can shed what no longer works for you and begin living a more authentic and fulfilling life.

Depression is defined as a mood disorder that so many people experience nowadays. It can be induced for many reasons such as grief/loss or even be environmentally based. Depression is when you feel persistent bouts of sadness and hopelessness. You will often lose interest in activities that you once enjoyed, have a loss of appetite, feel fatigue and withdraw socially. Things that once seemed easy may feel difficult to do now. At Emerge, you will regain your emotional and physical strength by exploring and becoming knowledgeable about the triggers that cause your depression. Together, we refocus and define your goals to becoming emotionally and physically well again.

Depression often occurs when when we are only able to imagine a future governed by our past. The depression is held in place by memories, and beliefs acquired in the past that have been misfiled in projections of our future. Therapy, properly conducted, helps us place the past where it belongs leaving plenty of empty space and freedom in which to imagine invigorating possibilities for the future. Medication may or may not be needed to get the process started. When one gains the ability to imagine engagement in that which beckoned but seemed impossible, depression dissipates.

Skill building for coping, and psychotherapy to determine if there was a precipitating event causing the mood. Clients with severe depression should be seeking in- person support. *I am able to support clients on medication management who need maintenance support, while seeing a physician. *I do not have 24hour emergency care, or an MD at my practice.
