Helping young fathers overcome barriers to supporting their children is the primary focus of the Fatherhood Connection. This program focuses in particular on the financial and emotional involvement that fathers need to have with their children. Most program participants are young, unemployed, or both. By learning how to support themselves through education, hard work, and job readiness, young fathers learn how to support their children and promote a healthy and happy life for their sons and daughters. These classes focus on a variety of topics, including positive parenting strategies, age-appropriate expectations for children, and child development issues. This organization is committed to providing support and guidance for children as they navigate obstacles in school and life. From their foster grandparent program that pairs at-risk children with a caring, supportive older adult mentor, to disability services that help families meet the unique needs of their disabled child, to programs that facilitate personal and social development, the Community Place promotes the stability and resiliency of children and young adults.
