I work with couples to help them fundamentally change the direction of their relationship. We work to heal the wounds they are carrying and to begin prioritizing their relationship to build or rebuild their friendship and develop or improve trust. When this happens conflicts and misunderstandings aren't nearly as threatening to that underlying friendship and both people are able to simply be themselves without fancy communication techniques, weird ways of interacting, or feeling like they have to walk on egg shells. They are able to simply enjoy being together.

I am a Level 3 trained Gottman Therapist and use the methods to help couples work through conflict and reconnect with their love story. I am also certified in Prepare/Enrich. I use the assessment to help couples who are preparing for marriage or couple who would like a check up. I can also use this tool for Parenting assessments and can guide biological parents, blended families, or couples who are seeking to parent well through divorce learn skills to benefit their children.

I will first address briefly the history of the conflict that brought the couple into counseling and any previous treatment that they have had. Then, I will begin with teaching the couple a different way of communicating to resolve conflicts that will reduce emotionally charged reactions between the couple. My goal is to obtain a successful resolution of conflicts that respects each person's wishes and desires. Sometimes we find that conflicts are triggered by past events of the individual(s) prior to the couple' s history that results in unresolved emotions from the past hijacking our brain in the present. If this is the case I will work with resolving those emotional triggers

I have specialized in couples for over 8 years. I have been trained in multiple forms of couples counseling including the Gottman method. I will help you and your significant other learn how to improve your communication, argue more effectively with less fallout, and learn how to prioritize your relationship. I will not ask you to do Olympic style communication or act like a therapist in your own home. I will simply teach you how to prioritize your relationship to bring back some of the trust and feelings that may have dissipated some over your time together.
