Although we do not know the specifics of this ‘thorn’, we do know that it constantly vexed Paul and stimulated a great deal of emotional challenges for him. So too all Christians who wish to follow the commandment “…be perfect as God the Father is perfect” (Mt. 5:48) are faced with the constant struggle to orient our lives to follow His example. However, being “generically sinful”, it is in our nature to be attracted to those behaviors that are anti-Christ. It is a particular passion of mine to work with clients who would like to bring their faith and their spirituality into counselling. I believe that integrating solid, evidence-based counselling with the healing power of God through the use of Prayer, Scripture and simply the explicit welcoming of God into our conversation, brings the potential of great healing and hope for individuals. It is always the choice of the particular individual/client, whether or not and to what degree they would like to integrate their faith and spirituality explicitly into the counselling process. It is my pleasure to integrate the elements that you feel comfortable with and which are important to you, into therapy.

I hold a Masters of Divinity in Clinical Counselling from Tyndale University. I also spent over 20 years involved in various Christian Leadership roles. I do not practice or hold to this religion any longer. In my clinical work, I work with clients who are processing spiritual abuse/trauma and I regularly work with clients who are navigating deconstruction. I believe it is important to clarify, I am affirming and fully accepting of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. I consider myself an ally to this community. In my clinical work, I consider it an honour to work with members of this community who have been wounded by the Christian Church.
