Our team specializes is in working with couple relationships. We practice Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples; one of the most researched and effective ways to treat couple distress. Our goal is to help couples create secure and meaningful connections so that they no longer need the assistance of a couples therapist and are able to work through life's challenges on their own.

In working with couples, the relationship is my client. My goal is to ensure that both partners feel heard and validated. I support the couple in creating space to have conversations that might otherwise be difficult to have. In working with me, couples will learn improved ways of communicating and being there for one another. They will also learn how to manage conflict in a way that is supportive of relationship growth. Further, the couples' strengths will be highlighted and accessed to continue to grow the relationship bond.

Relationships can be both satisfying, and frustrating. Although we can get along with some people some of the time, in close relationships we can sometimes get stuck, over-reactive, or even too distant. In couple counselling we can explore what's not working in your relationship, what your individual and 'couple' ideals and dreams are, and then strategize and work together on getting your relationship to a better place.

My background in relational therapy allows me to understand individuals through the relationships they cohabit. Couple therapy may be a vehicle for growth to occur both relationally and individually. This in turn may assist in bringing you closer to your desired goals through understanding and breaking down language used in romantic relationships. Throughout couple sessions, I lean towards emotionally focused therapy, as I have witnessed its transformative effects particularly in romantic relationships. Do you feel unsatisfied in your relationship or disconnected from your partner? All couples disagree or bicker from time to time, but when it turns into criticism, blaming and hostility, you may feel unhappy in your relationship. Through both joint and individual counselling sessions, we will work together to change dysfunctional patterns of behaviour and help rebuild communication, intimacy, security and trust. Common concerns addressed in couples counselling may include communication, conflict resolution, power imbalances, trust, infidelity, or separation/divorce.

In couples counselling, I focus on helping partners improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen their emotional connection. I use a combination of the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to guide couples in understanding each other’s needs and developing healthier patterns of interaction. My approach is non-judgmental and empathetic, allowing couples to feel safe as they explore their challenges. Through our work together, clients develop practical tools to enhance intimacy, rebuild trust, and foster a deeper sense of understanding and support within their relationship.

Family Systems theory is primarily focused on three areas. These are individuals, couples, and families (including children). Couples therapy focuses exclusively on the couple's dyad. This connection is affected by many factors: Past childhood experiences of family life, current parenting and grandparenting, blended families after a divorce, intimacy, sexuality, employment stress, financial obligations, and supporting your parents even when you are an adult. This list, though not exhaustive, points to the complexity of couplehood.
