We have worked with children, adolescents and adults who suffer from depression. Focusing on positive strategies and coping skills, we find that each person suffering from depression must find alternatives to destructive thinking and behaviors. Sometimes medication may be necessary. In that case, a referral can be made to your family physician. Sometimes, individuals prefer a natural approach without medication. The decision of medication is an individual choice. We support whatever you feel is best for you.

Depression is a mood disorder that can cause a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest that can interfere with daily functioning. Reaching out for help is a step towards wellness. Symptoms of depression can vary from person to person, but it is a very treatable condition. I help my clients view depression as a mental, emotional, and physiological condition that can be treated with a full application of the tools, insights, and aids that are available from a variety of sources. These will include cognitive techniques to redirect unhelpful thought patterns, behavioral practices such as exercise, sleep hygiene, and life style adjustments, and social/relational interactions with significant others. Most of therapy or counseling processes utilize validation, unconditional positive regard, and reframing as common techniques to get someone to heal from their depression.
