I am not trained in biblical counseling. Rather I am a Christian who is a therapist. My beliefs are part of who I am and most assuredly influence my counseling. When I have a client who is also a Christian, we pull from biblical principles and faith or spirituality practices and beliefs as a part of the healing process. For individuals who do not consider themselves a Christian, but do consider themselves spiritual individuals, I respect their beliefs and help them tap into their faith for their healing.

Is a Christian Counseling perspective important to you in therapy? As an experienced Christian Counselor and ordained pastor, over the last 15 years I’ve been blessed to help hundreds of men find hope and healing using both psychological and Biblical principles. I believe that Christ is the ultimate source of hope and healing in this life. But I also believe that he’s given us the gift of rational minds, able to discern scientific and psychological truths built into the fabric of His amazing creation. My approach is grounded firmly in Scripture, but I don’t use Scripture as a weapon. You don’t need more guilt, but rather, a reminder of God’s promises and a compassionate guide to support you.

When we are facing struggles, changes, or feeling overwhelmed, we often forget to check in with our faith and the tools Christianity can offer in hard time. I'm here to be a support for you as part of the Christian faith and family we share. We can find strength together in remembering important values and to connect to deeper meanings we believe in to help you feel more grounded and capable of facing whatever is bothering you right now. While most Christian Counselors pride themselves on how many Scriptural passages they can recite and how many links they can make from the Bible to psychological disorders, the Christian-centric work of Grey Matters International, Inc.is grounded in one principle: truth. Although I do not have formal theological education, I offer my counseling clients a biblically-based, Christian world view in therapy. An example of a benefit for clients would be in addressing an issue such as forgiveness. I instruct clients in biblical references as to why practicing forgiveness is desirable and spiritually healthy. As the Bible teaches, unforgiveness can lead to the "root of bitterness" in a person's heart, which hinders their walk with God. Clients will benefit from stronger relationships by learning to forgive. Any counseling issue can be addressed successfully by encorporating Christian, biblical principles.
