Are you depressed? Depression is often best treated using REBT and CBT in combination with exercise, nutritional changes, and/or medication. Depending upon what is going on, it is possible that I will ask you to begin to increase activities that will eventually promote a sense of satisfaction, pleasure, and accomplishment. We will also work on how your thinking affects your mood, so you can learn to feel better. We will work on your interpersonal relationships, teaching you how to receive positive reinforcement and enhance the opportunities for this. We will also work on teaching you to positively reinforce yourself.

I offer confidential and non-judgemental counseling to help people overcome their depression or suicidal thoughts. Depression can show itself with many different symptoms including, but not limited to feelings of sadness, anger, fatigue, guilt, insomnia, shame, and worthlessness. Depression does not mean the person never smiles, it may show itself when you are alone, or you may experience mood swings. Suicidal thoughts and other self-harming behaviors happen when a person feels overwhelmed by the depression. It is critical that someone who has suicidal thoughts be seen as quickly as possible: CALL NOW!

If you are struggling with depression, it may be difficult to even make the effort to contact a counselor and set up a session, which is completely understandable. Just know that the effort you put in towards seeing a counselor, myself or someone else, will pay off tremendously later on. I will help you in an exploration of the potential sources of your depression, but more importantly, I will help you find ways to decrease the depression when possible, and find healthy ways to cope with its symptoms, to live a better, happier life.

He listens to the clients concerns and looks at the whole picture before making choices regarding their health and well being. Depression comes in many forms. Clients who have organically driven forms should see their doctor regarding the latest/newer approaches to pharmacotherapy. Other forms of depression can stem from relationship troubles and in particular marital problems. Relationship counseling and learning new ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving regarding marital conflict and intimacy deficits are a proven, effective way to overcome these types of depression. Many of my clients have learned to combine their existing pharmacotherapies with marital counseling--which is a particularly effective and empirically proven combination.
