While there can be common traits we share when we experience grief, we each experience loss in a personal way. Some people become overwhelmed by tears and sadness. Some may feel disconnected. We can experience grief with the death of a loved one, in the process of divorce; or even in relation to a significant change in our life. Many people have experienced loss in these difficult economic times, forced to change careers that once sustained them and their families. Many people must work past a time when their parents may have been able to retire and live a life of leisure. The strongest thing someone can do is to reach out for help if they are stuck in a cycle of grief and despair.

There are many kinds of grief and loss. Everyone experiences bereavement differently--often based on social and cultural norms/expectations, past losses, current support and resources, level of resilience, circumstances surrounding their loss, etc. The client's grief is normalized and validated while they are simultaneously helped to accept and move through their pain.

All people perceive and/or experience loss in their lives. As part of the healing process I support people in transforming these experiences to a place of safety and acceptance. Together we extend the human power to survive and thrive despite adversity. My client's lives are enhanced as the negative impact of loss and grieving is diminished and a positive shift is experienced in their awareness.

We tend to only think of grief as being associated with death. But allowing yourself to grieve is an important part of healing from any loss. Some of the biggest losses are losses of ideals, beliefs, or what you thought you had. The loss of the belief that you had an honest and open marriage, for example, can be devastating and traumatic. Talking about this, instead of holding in your pain, is the only way to heal. I'd be honored to join you in this painful journey to help you find hope.
