Family Therapy is crucial in helping families improve their communication with one another. My goal for family therapy is to create a safe and respectful atmosphere for all members to feel heard. Active listening exercises and activities are strategically used to help better bridge family members together. My goal is for each family member to have a voice and participate in their therapy.

Many times families get “stuck” in bad relationship patterns. Perhaps communication has broken down or fighting seems to be a continuous issue. An experienced counselor can help families learn new ways to communicate. They can also serve as a mediator to get both sides to see the other’s concerns and desires. With family therapy a family can come together and form stronger bonds and learn ways to have less conflict. At the heart of a family is love, they just need to be given the tools to be able to understand one another better and communicate more effectively.

As a family unit, working through conflicts and disagreements can be a challenge. Not everyone has the same perspective or viewpoint on a given scenario. Communication is key, but only if it is within a healthy environment where those involved are willing to listen to the other's perspective with an open mind. Sometimes a mediator is required to help guide the discussion in a more positive/respectful light.
