As an art therapist and certified counsellor, I work primarily with LGBTQIA+ adults who have lived through difficult or overwhelming life experiences and are seeking a more, integrated way of healing. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, self-aware, and capable, yet feel that something remains unresolved.

You may notice patterns such as:
• anxiety or emotional overwhelm
• shutdown or numbness
• relational difficulties
• feeling disconnected from your body, creativity, or sense of self

I offer a grounded, compassionate space where these experiences can be explored with care and curiosity, and where tools to support living a more fulfilling life can be developed collaboratively.

My approach
My work is trauma-informed and grounded in somatic awareness and art therapy. While talk therapy is helpful for many people, some lived experiences are simply too complex, painful, or fragmented to access through words alone. Trying to explain what feels unspeakable can, at times, feel overwhelming or disorganizing.

Art therapy offers another way in:
• working with simple art materials to explore inner experiences, emotions, memories, and relational patterns
• gentle, somatic-focused prompts to anchor the process in the body
• the focus is on the process and the meaning that emerges through it
• creating an image allows something to be seen, held, and reflected on, rather than only spoken
• sometimes talking alone can feel too activating
• through image-making, metaphor, and narrative, it can become possible to approach wounded or younger parts of yourself with a greater distance and safety
• very important: anybody can do art therapy - there is no bad art!

Art therapy is a core pillar of my approach, though it is never forced. Some sessions involve more talking, others more creative work, and many move fluidly between talk-based counselling and art therapy. I pay close attention to pacing, consent, nervous system regulation, and we regularly check in about what feels supportive for you.

How Therapy Can Support You
Over time, art therapy can help you achieve:
• stronger coping tools and greater tolerance for distress
• increased self-awareness and mindfulness
• improved relational skills
• a growing sense of safety in the body
• a greater capacity for creativity, self-compassion, and gentleness toward yourself

Clients often share that they appreciate being held in the space - having a compassionate witness who can help them explore their inner world and process difficult experiences. They value the opportunity to be curious about themselves, to move slowly, and to approach healing with care and curiosity.

Working Together
I see therapy as a collaborative process, shaped by your needs, capacities, and goals. My intention is to cultivate a therapeutic relationship that feels grounded, respectful, and human. If you are looking for a trauma-informed therapist who integrates art therapy in a thoughtful and contained way, I'd love to connect!
