Is there a gap between where you feel you are now, and where you want to be? We all have times in our lives when we feel things just aren't working anymore.  If you desire connection and a place to feel understood, gain insights, and make changes, take the first step, and contact me to set up an appointment.  There are many times in our lives when therapy can make a big difference. Suffering is a fact of life, but there is a way out of suffering.  If you are interested in taking that journey, I can point you in the right direction, and walk with you for a time.

I have a Master's degree in marriage and family therapy, and I work with individuals, couples, and families, including children and teens. I'm an integrative therapist, using a variety of modalities. I specialize in mindfulness-based and attachment therapy approaches, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprogramming), creativity and expressive arts, and family systems therapies.

I see the therapeutic space as a sacred place to find and/or explore meaning in our lives.   I am interested in the research on brain science, and the neurobiology of emotional states, developmental problems, and attachment bonds.  Knowing how our brain reacts to stress and trauma--and recognizing that our brain can grow new neuropathways--helps us work on ways to shift our repetitive emotional states.  This knowledge also engenders compassion for how we (and our loved ones, including children) are the way we are.  Conditioning is very powerful, and therapy, along with the application of effort and skill, can begin to overcome conditioning and help us learn to cultivate states of calm and happiness.

As a family therapist, I begin with a systems approach, and seek to understand with you (and your partner or family) how you have been shaped by and are connected to your roots--the patterns and experiences of your intergenerational family system.  We are not only conditioned by our family of origin experience, we are also affected by our community, the forces of social systems for good or bad, the times we live in, our cultural identity, and our stage of life.  Holding this context in awareness as we explore your issues is helpful.

Sometimes we feel alone with our problems.  We don't have to stay that way.  I invite you to get in touch, and take a new step towards creating the change you seek.
