Therapy for Eating Disorders, Binge Eating, Complex Trauma, Important Relationship

You're here because something in your life doesn't feel quite right.

Maybe your relationship with food feels exhausting, you are caught in cycles of overeating and under-eating or both, and your decision that tomorrow you will make better food choices, often fails. Maybe you find that food and your body take up more space in your mind than you want them to.

Or maybe the impact of earlier life experiences is showing up in ways that are harder to name. When you're needs weren't adequately seen, supported or understood, it can shape how you relate to yourself and others, often in ways that feel confusing or hard to shift.

You might notice these showing up as also feeling on edge, struggling with low self-worth, being hard on yourself or finding it difficult to understand or trust your emotions. You may put others' needs ahead of your own, or feel disconnected from what you truly need. At some point, something inside of you says, "I can't keep doing this the same way." And that matters.

I work with individuals navigating disordered eating and body image concerns, and the effects of developmental trauma and an . Together, we create a space that feels safe, collaborative and respectful, where you can begin to  understand the patterns you are in, find new skills and make sense of what's happening beneath the surface.

This work can help you build a different relationship with food, your emotions and yourself. One that feels more steady, connected and sustainable.

Meet Karen
My counselling work is not just textbook but has real life understanding. I have experienced life difficulties and faced the hard decision to reach out. It was challenging to tell some parts of my story and the warmth, acceptance the liberation began to help me find why way through. So much can go into the making of our lives and some of these things can undo us in ways.  It's can say, it's a beautiful feeling though, when the transformation begins and we find greater peace or joy, and capacity and aliveness begin to grow and take root.

With a masters degree in Counselling Psychology, I have over twenty-five years of counselling experience in a private practice setting. I specialize in working with adult women and men with eating disorders / disordered eating, and adult women with the effects of developmental trauma, such as people please, perfection, struggle to identify and express feelings, and a strong inner critic, plus more.

The Counselling Process
Through a warm and compassionate lens, my goal is to provide a safe place for you to talk, and to partner with you in a way that you feel seen, heard and understood. I will guide you to understand how much sense your actions make. You are more than a diagnosis. You were hurt in some way and you made your way without the help you needed.  As you understand how you came to be blocked, feel powerless to change, or overwhelmed, we can work on steps towards recovery using life skills and healing therapies.

Through our work together, you should experience transformative moments that allow you to begin to move forward, repair your relationship with yourself and others, and learn life skills.
