collaborative. My modalities include Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative
Therapy, Attachment Therapy and Family Systems Therapy.
As you browse my website, you’ll get a sense of who I am and
how I might be able to help you. Here is a little more information about me.
I am a native of Las Vegas, Nevada. I have always been
driven to pursue a career path that involved serving others. That has led me to
work overseas in Thailand for four years back in the 1990s teaching English and
working on short projects in the hill tribe villages of Northern Thailand such
as installing a septic system in a village with no plumbing system and helping
to build ponds so they could grow fish to eat.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science from BIOLA
University, I also had the opportunity to do projects in the southern part of
India including helping to build an orphanage and working with a team to
provide basic heath services to the children of that orphanage. When I returned
to the states I worked on staff at a church leading others to do services
projects in Mexico, the Philippines and Thailand. I also worked with the Las
Vegas City Mission every week feeding and clothing the homeless in Las Vegas.
Along with a very close friend, we tried to get involved in some of their lives
by going to their home, helping them clean and cook and work through their
Although I very much enjoyed my volunteer work, I began to
have a growing interest in doing something that would have a greater impact. I
decided to follow a new career path that would allow me to focus on this
developing passion. I attended Regis University in Las Vegas and obtained my
Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology with and advanced certificate in
Marriage and Family Therapy. With this
background, I was hired to provide individual and group therapy at WestCare
Nevada. This was a critical time in my development as an addictions specialist,
for it was through my patients and the training at WestCare Nevada that I came
to believe that addiction is a disease, and realized I wanted to specialize in
addiction. I have also spent several years working with type 14 Medicaid
clinics providing wraparound services to my clients and their families working
with them both in the office and, at times, in their homes, when appropriate
Another pivotal experience that shaped my development as a
psychotherapist was experiencing my own individual, couples and group therapy.
Working through my own childhood pains and issues empowered me to have
meaningful growth, which I was able to accomplish from my work in therapy,
further fueled my desire to be and grow as a therapist.
As a psychotherapist I work in a supportive, collaborative
and practical way, often with humor, to confront issues which interfere with my
patients’ attaining their goals in life.
My own therapeutic journey, professional skills, work
experience and family life have helped me create a solid foundation for the
work I do.
I love being a therapist and feel privileged to be allowed
to share my patients’ unique journey to recovery. I hope that you will give me
that opportunity. Please feel free to call me.
