Claire Harstine believes clients are empowered to move towards meaningful change when provided with a safe, trusting, and empathetic environment.  No matter the size of the obstacle being faced, she strives to foster a collaborative process that engages and equips her clients with the tools to take the next step on their journey.  Her strengths–based approach recognizes the unique aspects of each client and promotes flexibility to meet them where they are.  Claire enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults to help them form new paths towards hope.

Claire Harstine earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Purdue University.  She is a candidate for a Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Colorado Christian University and is practicing as a clinical counseling intern.  Claire incorporates her background in education to employ developmentally informed counseling for children, adolescents, and teens.  She draws on techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), child play therapy, art therapy, and strengths–based therapy.

Prior to joining Foundations, Claire Harstine spent 7 years teaching elementary and preschool aged children.  She partnered closely with families and community resources to support her students holistically in the classroom and beyond.  She has experience working with children expressing attachment issues, anxiety, and learning disabilities.

In her free time, Claire enjoys running, cooking, painting, and spending quality time with friends and family.  She is an animal-lover and finds daily amusement in her two pets, a dog named Tuesday, and a cat named Chef.
