Hope. Relief. Freedom. These are what you can expect in the 3 phases of counseling we do together. Although you may currently feel discouraged, overwhelmed, frustrated and even hopeless, you can begin to feel hope in Stage 1 of counseling, and often from the very first session. When you reach Phase 2, you can expect Relief. Relief from the pressing burden of the problems you have experienced and relief from a lack of understanding about how the problem developed and how to resolve it. Finally, in Phase 3 you can expect Freedom. Freedom to live your life, experience your marriage and other relationships and pursue your dreams after having been restored to a life without the problems that brought you into counseling.
I am an expert in counseling and psychotherapy, with over 25 years experience helping a wide range of people with a wide range of problems. I have worked with people from teenagers to grandparents, singles to couples, and prison inmates to executives. My approach to helping is to work collaboratively with you through the Stages of Hope, Relief and Freedom mentioned above, so you can identify the source of the problem and be set free from it as quickly as possible. I will work to earn your trust, and make therapy not only productive but as enjoyable as possible. We will laugh together, even though the work we are doing can be difficult and challenging. You will learn about yourself, how you function, and how to get the most out of your life and relationships. You can trust that I always have your best interest in mind in all of our work together, and you can count on me to be skilled and knowledgeable in the best ways to resolve the issues that bring you to counseling.
I have devoted my entire career to psychology and to helping people work through life problems, emotional problems, substance abuse and mental illness. I majored in psychology in college, which is where I realized that psychology and helping people is my life calling and mission. After college I got a master's degree in counseling and then a doctorate in clinical psychology, so I could be as effective as possible in helping people resolve the issues that bring them to counseling. I know how important it is to you to feel understood, feel supported and feel comfortable talking to me, so I will help you tell your story in a way that does not feel intrusive or pushy, and yet helps us understand how to best resolve your issue in as short a time as possible.
As a result of our work together you will have what you need to achieve freedom from the following issues:
- Panic Attacks
- Alcohol Abuse/Alcoholism
- Drug Abuse or Addiction
- Marriage Problems
- Dementia and Other Chronic Illness/Caregiver Support
- Severe Mental Illness (Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, etc.)
- Anger Management
- Physical or Sexual Abuse
I look forward to working with you to achieve Hope, Relief and Freedom. We will address your issues or concerns, help you develop a foundation for a healthy life or marriage, restore your current marriage, or work on whatever other issue brings you to counseling. You will find me to be caring, compassionate, effective and always on your side as we work together.
