Pamela Sobo, Psy.D., is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who practices psychotherapy in the San Fernando Valley area of Southern California.  Dr. Sobo provides treatment to individuals, couples, and groups.  She is holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.

Dr. Sobo’s specialties include treating patients with physical and developmental traumas.  She also treats patients with presenting problems such as Depression, Anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Panic Disorder.  Dr. Sobo’s interests have broadened to include the treatment of patients with chronic conditions, such as Autoimmune Disorders and Chronic Pain and Disability.

Dr. Sobo integrates traditional psychodynamic psychotherapy with progressive psychotherapeutic interventions such as Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Mindfulness training.  These techniques help to treat the effects of trauma on the body and help facilitate emotional and cognitive processing, as well as cultivate self-awareness of inner body sensations.  Sensorimotor Psychotherapy has been reported to reduce symptoms of PTSD, nightmares, panic attacks, and hyperarousal, while providing tools to help increase feelings of safety and a sense of control over one’s self.

For the past 20 years of her practice Dr. Sobo also performed comprehensive psychological evaluations to determine patient eligibility for disability.   During this time Dr. Sobo would regularly communicate with medical doctors, psychiatrists, employers, and insurance companies.  In those cases where the existence of a psychological injury was determined, clinical treatment was provided.

In addition to her private practice, Dr. Sobo taught and mentored third year medical students at UCLA to assist them in learning "bedside manner" and clinical intervention skills and sensitivity to various patient concerns.

She has regularly attended study groups with Allan N. Schore, Ph. D.  for advanced learning in psychoneurobiology and groups with Stan Tatkin, MFT, Ph.D.  and Dan Sigeel, M.D. studying couples therapy and integrating principles of attachment with  couples treatment.  Dr. Sobo completed training with

Pat Ogden, Ph. D. completing Level II Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for treatment of traumas.
