If you are feeling stuck in patterns and behaviours, feeling frustrated or overwhelmed, or just ready for a change, Emily Zabel provides a safe space for you to address your concerns and supports you on your growth journey. Using a client-centred approach and drawing from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), the process is tailored to each individual's needs. Emily is one of the few practitioners in the region trained to provide Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). Accelerated Resolution Therapy is a unique approach in which the therapist helps the client process negative sensations and voluntarily replace negative images. Accelerated Resolution Therapy combines the power of eye movements with other approaches such as Gestalt, to obtain results quickly. A special feature of Accelerated Resolution Therapy is that it does not require the client to speak about the details of their trauma, making the therapy easier on the client. Accelerated Resolution Therapy is not hypnosis and must be delivered in-person and is not available for virtual sessions.
Emily has additional training in CBT-I, a form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy designed specifically for addressing insomnia.
Emily has also completed the First Responder Firefighter Culture and Trauma and Emergency Worker Trauma courses to better understand the unique needs of emergency service workers.

Emily Provides:
Couples Counselling - for couples who are working to improve their relationship or those wanting to develop skills to have an amicable termination to their romantic relationship. Counselling is a place to practice communication skills and learn techniques to reduce the frequency of conflict. Parents, even those who are separating or separated, can also benefit from further developing their parenting skills.

Individual counselling- to address many issues including anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, chronic pain, esteem, imposter syndrome, workplace stress or burnout, perimenopause/menopause symptoms, and grief. Tools can be learned and practiced to better equip individuals to manage their current issues and struggles they encounter in the future.

Adolescent and Youth Counselling- for clients ages 10 and up. Support with issues such as school avoidance, ADHD, OCD, anxiety and depression.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy- this is an alternative approach to talk therapy that has demonstrated effectiveness in the treatment of PTSD, addictions, disordered eating, anxiety, depression, loss, fear of driving after motor vehicle accidents, and chronic pain. Clients who try Accelerated Resolution Therapy often have results in as few as one to five sessions.

Cost
$140/session (50 minutes) for individuals
$115/session (50 minutes) for youth ages 18 and younger
$160/session (50 minutes) for couples and family sessions
$200/session (75 minutes) for ART
Receipts will be provided to all clients that they can submit to their coverage provider. I can direct bill many insurance companies.

Please note that a sliding scale is available for those struggling with finances and can be arranged upon request.
