Hiya, welcome, I’m so glad you are here! I know that it can sometimes feel overwhelming and vulnerable to seek out a new counsellor at first, so remember to be gentle with yourself. Taking the deep dive to explore your inner world can be both challenging and terrifying, but it can also be extremely rewarding when done with proper support.

My approach to counselling is to create a meaningful connection and a safe space where you can engage in self exploration, free of judgement, through person centred, and trauma-informed approaches. In a world of information overload, I try to slow it down and explore inner thoughts and sensations that don't always have the opportunity to express themselves. I view you as the expert in your life, and my job is to ask you the right questions and help you reflect on what is showing up for you.

A few (but certainly not all) of the areas I am passionate about working with:

  • Trauma
  • Stress
  • Grief
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Life Transitions
  • Relationships

A great deal of my work is focused on assisting people in tending to their relationships - both their relationships within themselves surrounding their emotions, reactions, behaviours, and their relationships in the external world with others. When looking to understand our current selves, it can sometimes be helpful to look back at our previous life experiences to see how we learned to move through the world around us. Exploring how we learned to express, share, and regulate our emotions is a key piece of information that it is not always obvious at first.

Education & Experience:

My educational background of a Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology allowed me to further understand how our brain and body develop and impact one another. I have experience offering counselling to individuals ages 12 and up, as well as working with couples and families, and offering parent consultations. I have also co-facilitated a dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) skills group to adults.

I am comfortable working with many presenting concerns, and actually find that many overlap with each other in a beautiful complicated web. I also know that there is no one size fits all approach to counselling, so a few of the approaches and modalities that I am inspired by and pull from regularly are:

  • Internal family systems (IFS)
  • Emotionally focused therapy (EFT)
  • Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)
  • Attachment based neuroscience
  • Interpersonal neurobiology
  • Dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT)
  • Somatic EMDR (currently in training)

Overall, I am both thrilled and honoured to be here and to be considered as a potential counsellor to work alongside you in your journey. If you feel like we would be a good fit, I would love to sit down and have a chat about your story and what brings you here today.
