Hello & Welcome
Choosing the right therapist is one of the most important aspects of therapy. You want to work with someone who is a good fit for you. You want someone you can connect with and trust to guide you safely through the therapeutic process. I consider it my duty to provide a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental atmosphere for you to share your past, present, and future. I also consider it a privilege to join you in your journey towards hope, healing, and peace. For this reason, I offer an initial free session. I also provide reduced fee sessions. Please feel free to email me at kristenswartpcg@gmail.com, or call me at 317-966-6394 to schedule your session.
 What to Expect
My office is located a few blocks from of I-465 at Michigan Road in Carmel, Indiana. My office is also easily accessible from Castleton, Fischers, Indianapolis, Noblesville, Westfield, and Zionsville. My office is located at: Peace Counseling Group, 9640 Commerce Drive, Ste 413, Carmel, Indiana 46032

When you walk through the doors, you will notice a calm, comfortable atmosphere. You may help yourself to coffee, tea, or hot chocolate in the waiting room. WiFi is also available for clients. Before we meet for the first session, you will fill out paperwork that will inform you of my policies, and your rights as a client. Should you need a reduced fee, we will discuss this during our initial meeting if we haven't already.

Your first 1-2 sessions will consist of an assessment process, where we will get to know one another. I will want to know you better before I can offer you a feedback session. The feedback session consists of my observations of what we discussed in the previous session(s). I will go over things I see that we can work on together. I don't want you to struggle with the same issues over and over again. I want you to experience hope, have healing, and eventually feel at peace. In order to do that, we will be actively working during our sessions, and I will expect both of us to work outside our sessions too.
 My approach
I believe that we all have strengths and weaknesses. Oftentimes those strengths and weaknesses are hidden from our own view. It is my job to help you discover those strengths and to help you understand your weaknesses in order to heal and how to work them to your advantage. I also believe that we do our best learning and growing when we are hurting and in pain. While no one likes the pain, and we can be hurting more than we want, the pain helps motivate us to learn more about ourselves and may help us grow through the healing process. I want to help you heal all aspects of yourself so you may become the best version of you. This is, however, a painful process and takes great courage to start and continue through that process. This painful journey is completely worth the effort though, because in the end, you will be able to have peace in all circumstances!
Areas of Practice
I work with individuals, couples, and families to help them have hope, healing, and peace at all times. I can help you work through many different areas including:
  •  Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Grief & Loss
  • Marital & Couples Counseling
  • Affair Recovery
  • Divorce Recovery
  • Abandonment & Shame
  • Foster Care Issues
  • Adoption Issues
  • Trauma
  • General Support
  • Life Balance
  • Spirituality
Education
I received my Bachelor's Degree from Purdue University in Psychology and Sociology and my Master's Degree from the University of New England's (online) social work program. My theoretical base includes Bowen Family Systems Theory and Cognitive Behavioral Theory, to name a couple. I am able to work with other theories if something appeals to you more, just bring it up in session with me!
 Professional Licensure
I currently hold a License in Social Work in the state of Indiana. I am under the supervision of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Nancy Eisenman, LCSW (also at Peace Counseling Group), who I will discuss cases with to learn myself, and in order to eventually obtain my own LCSW. This is another reason I am able to offer reduced fees and free sessions. We will be on a learning journey together. I hope that you can push me towards learning more about myself and about the therapeutic process as I push you towards learning about you!
 More About Me
I was born and raised half of my life in the Greater Cincinnati Area and lived the other half of my life in rural Southeastern Indiana. When I am not studying social work, I enjoy spending time with my fantastical husband, three beautiful kiddos, and wonderful extended family.  I love playing video games, board games, reading all sorts of books, photography, crafting, and especially quilting.
