Hi, I'm Melissa Huang, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and the founder of Mindful Connections Therapy. I offer warm, trauma-informed psychotherapy for adults in North York and online across Ontario.
Life's challenges can feel overwhelming and isolating, and when you're stuck in the same patterns, it's hard to see a way forward. This is a space where that changes.
Whether you're navigating anxiety, relationship struggles, emotional overwhelm, or simply feeling lost, you'll find a warm, nonjudgmental space here to slow down, make sense of what's happening, and begin moving toward something better. The goal isn't just to cope, it's to genuinely understand yourself, replace what's holding you back with habits that actually nourish you, and reconnect with what brings you peace and fulfillment.
My Approach
My approach is person-centred and humanistic at its core: the therapeutic relationship comes first and foremost. You are the expert on your own life, and my role is to work alongside you.
Typically, we start with practical symptom management using CBT, DBT, and ACT skills, so you have something to work with in daily life. When you feel ready, we move into deeper work with EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and Emotionally Focused Therapy, where more meaningful and lasting change tends to happen.
That said, there is no single path. The approach shifts depending on what you're bringing and who you are, and I'm committed to supporting whatever you bring into the room. We'll work collaboratively, and you set the pace.

I specialize in working with trauma, brain injuries, and ADHD, and have built my practice around helping clients in these areas feel truly understood. My work is neurodiversity-affirming and grounded in an understanding that each person's experiences, strengths, and needs are unique.
I also work closely with caregivers and family members, including those supporting a loved one living with dementia. Caregiving can bring grief, exhaustion, guilt, and a sense of losing yourself alongside the person you're caring for. You deserve support of your own.
Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked in community rehabilitation, supporting people recovering from accidents, strokes, and brain injuries, as well as individuals living with dementia and the families caring for them. This experience continues to inform my understanding of the emotional and psychological challenges that can accompany major life changes, injury, and recovery.
Taking the First Step
You do not need to have everything figured out before beginning therapy. If anything you've read here resonates with what you're experiencing, you're welcome to book a free 15-minute consultation. It's simply a chance to connect, ask questions, and see whether working together might feel like a good fit.
Together we'll work not just toward insight, but toward real, meaningful change, so you leave sessions feeling more grounded, more connected to yourself, and more equipped to navigate your life and relationships.
