Are you repeating the same unwanted patterns in your life? Feeling isolated?
Are you struggling in your most important relationships?
Have you tried everything you can think of to help yourself but nothing seems to work?
Paul has the life experience and tools that can help you make lasting changes.
Paul has lived with his family in Tacoma since 1998. Before that, he lived in New York City, Seattle, Dallas and Chicago, mingling with a broad spectrum of cultures. He has had several careers – including actor, risk manager, and financial reporting specialist – and worked extensively in both the for-profit and not-for-profit worlds. He has been actively involved in a church community for most of his life, has been practicing Yoga and Tai Chi for over 20 years, and enjoys being outdoors, hanging out with his family, and shooting baskets at the gym (and an occasional game of HORSE or 21 :-). All of this contributes to a rich background from which he draws real world experience to address healing for a wide variety of people and viewpoints within the context of multiple cultures.
Paul specializes in the treatment of:
- Isolation and loneliness
- Relationship difficulties (including couples)
Paul has extensively explored the experience of those who are the outsiders, the ones who have trouble connecting to other people, and turn to various interests and/or substances to help them handle pain in their lives. He enjoys helping these types of people find intimacy and emotional connection with friends, partners and spouses.
Other areas of focus include:
- Low self esteem
- Work relationship issues
- Life transitions (divorce, age-related milestones, retirement, or death/loss, etc..)
Paul uses a common sense and down to earth approach to counseling and psychotherapy that provides practical ways for managing issues and problems. He draws from his life experience to facilitate stabilizing clients. He builds strong trust while doing this, allowing the work to move to a deeper level, where clients learn about the particular dynamics that are impacting their lives in negative ways. He helps them accept themselves as unique and valuable, within their own spiritual beliefs, sexual/gender orientation, or cultural context, while embracing the possibilities for profound change in their life. He works with clients to create genuine closeness with themselves and with those they love. He draws from eclectic modalities, including Psychodynamic, Internal Family Systems, Existential, and Mindfulness. Paul’s life experience provides him with a broad and deep palette from which to draw his perspectives for helping clients make changes towards a deeper, more connected and meaningful life.
