*Offering online and telephone counselling sessions to clients across BC & in person sessions in Kelowna, BC*
Sometimes life seems overwhelming, we feel isolated, and our mental health or relationships can suffer as a result. This is why staying connected is more important than ever - you don't need to do it alone. Online therapy offers you a safe, accessible place, from the comfort of your own home, office, or quiet space, where we can make sense of your current challenges together.
You might be experiencing symptoms of anxiety or depression, or simply feel numb, "lost", or not like "yourself". I can provide you with empathy and support as you allow yourself to feel tough emotions and gain new insights, as well as the encouragement to learn new perspectives and skills, make desired changes, and to grow. I approach counselling with warmth, a little bit of humour, and a lot of compassion, taking time to consider each client's story or issue with the honour and respect it deserves.
Originally from Kelowna BC, I completed my BSc in Psychology in Nottingham, England, in 2003 and following this, trained as a Clinical Hypnotherapist in London. This technique allows my clients to access their unconscious beliefs with more ease and with that, learn new ways of being, make their desired changes, and experience relief from their distress. It also provides tools for mindfulness and relaxation, both shown to be beneficial in learning and maintaining life changes.
As a life-long learner, I am committed to further education, research and the practice of theory, tools and resources that will best serve each individual client. I have experience in cognitive behavioural therapy techniques as well as attachment based therapy, with an emotionally focused approach and as a registered Circle of Security Parenting™ program facilitator. This focus on the importance of emotional bonds and attachment needs continues to influence and guide my work with individuals, couples, families and groups.
I know only too well how difficult change can be, especially when you are feeling overwhelmed, distressed or hopeless. Asking for help, sharing your story and expressing your needs takes courage, and I endeavour to offer a safe, secure space to do this. I feel truly privileged to witness people’s life stories and support my clients as they learn new, healthy ways to think, behave, and feel.
