Empower Counselling Services Winnipeg
Hi, I'm Vern. Thanks so much for stopping by.
I believe it takes a great deal of courage to keep showing up when life has not always been easy to you.
I believe it takes great courage to pursue personal
growth and healing. And perhaps you showing up here today was
one of those moments of courage.
I believe at it's finest, healing and growth happen in the
company of another human, a safe space in the presence of a
non-judgmental supportive ear. I strive to create that
kind of a space in therapy.
As co-owner of Empower Counselling Services Winnipeg,
my vision is to offer a space where people like you feel valued,
respected, and honoured. I strive to create a space where you can feel
safe to embark on an empowering journey of healing and growth.
been working in counselling and related fields for nearly 10 years.
During this time I’ve had the privilege of walking with many adult individuals through some of their most difficult life-experiences.
I take special interest in walking with folks who feel their
life-story has collided with their optimal health, well-being and happiness, regardless of what has led to this experience in the first place.
My areas of service include but are not limited to the following - clicking these links will take you to our website where you can read more about each area, book your free consultation with me, and/or conveniently book your first appointment with me online here

Personal Experience with Therapy
I understand from personal experience that asking for help can be hard.
It was my own experience with getting professional help that led me to
become a counselling therapist–my desire to pay-it-forward. Reaching out for professional help to my counselling therapist is one of the best investments I've made for my own health, well-being, and personal and professional growth. Click here to read more.
Approach to Therapy
My approach to therapy is deeply informed by Person Centered Therapy. This means that I work to form a non-judgmental, non-oppressive perspective, which means you are welcome to come just as you are today. It also means that I believe in non-discriminatory inclusivity. Some examples:
- I work hard to create a zero-shame environment for you, leaving you space to work on the issues that led to, and maintain, your struggles
- I work hard to create a space in therapy that feels comfortable and safe. To achieve this, I like to use some humour and make our time together as enjoyable as possible
- Your life, your goals: I believe adults set their own life and health goals. While I may gently challenge and encourage you towards healing and making changes to improve your well-being, I respect how far you wish to go with therapy and with making your desired life-changes. My goal is to work towards your empowerment
