About Us:

Values are what guide us through our days. They also help choose the appropriate course of action when faced with challenging situations or stressors. Our values support how we feel and what we do and speak to the type of workplace we wish to create here at Virtuous Circle Counselling. Everyone has different values but a common value that attracts people to this industry is kindness.

Virtuous Circle Counselling supports diverse communities to foster inclusivity and acceptance. Each of our stories and experiences have shaped us in a variety of ways. We will work hard to provide you with a safe and compassionate environment to sort through your issues and we will provide the practical tools necessary for you to take back to your daily life and relationships.

Counselling is extremely important. It is a means to direct positive changes in one’s life as it relates to coping with emotions, relationships or other significant life areas. Upholding the belief that people need guidance to assist them in finding solutions and moving forward, we believe that counselling should be recognized as a form of prevention. Through therapy, one can confront and heal from past wounds, attitudes and behaviours. Addressing one’s hardships and finding solutions is empowering because it contributes to greater self-awareness and personal responsibility.

Our Mission at Virtuous Circle Counselling:

The counselling services offered by Virtuous Circle Counselling provides an avenue for someone who is feeling overwhelmed or needing direction to immediately begin to regain a sense of control. Meet Our Counsellors and Therapists:

Tiffany Petite, MSW, RSW
Therapist / Clinic Director

Hello, my name is Tiffany Petite. I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. I became a Social Worker by both personal and professional evolution. I have practiced as a Registered Social Worker for 15 years. I hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Waterloo and an Undergraduate Degree in Social Work from Thompson Rivers University. I am currently being supported in earning my specialization as a Registered Clinical Social Worker (RCSW) with the Alberta College of Social Workers.
I am an evidence based-practitioner who has extensive training and experience working with adults and families. My training has included models such as Cognitive Behavioural TherapyEMDR, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness & Prolonged Exposure Therapy. I endorse a client centered and collaborative approach. I consider myself as inclusive, welcoming and I strive to incorporate cultural safety in my daily work.

As the owner of Virtuous Circle Counselling, my vision is to create a safe and warm space where individuals can feel empowered to take back control in their lives with the support of a trusting ally, their therapist. I believe in the intrinsic strengths that individuals have to weather the storm of life but I also believe that sometimes we need support to navigate these uncharted territories.

Lynda Burgess, MACP
Registered Psychologist/ Therapist

Hello there! My name is Lynda Burgess. I am a Registered Psychologist. I have a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Regina in Psychology and Religious Studies. My career journey has taken me on many paths including working as a yoga instructor and labour doula, and it was through that work that I realized the most meaningful way I can serve others is through supporting their mental wellness and growth.

I believe in the resiliency of each person, and I support clients in recognizing and building that resiliency within them. I meet people where they are in their journey, and my approach to counselling often involves strength-based therapies including Solution-Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I also use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, Attachment-Informed approach, as well as other modalities. My counselling experience has also provided me with some unique ways to help clients, including co-facilitating groups for children and parents going through divorce.

Whatever your journey is, I would be honoured to walk with you.

Davinder Pandher, MACP, DCP Candidate
Registered Psychologist/ Therapist

Hello, my name is Davinder Pandher. I am a Registered Psychologist and a Doctoral student. We all encounter some degree of difficulty within our lives, and sometimes we find it difficult to navigate these hard times alone. If your relationships have become unfulfilling, or you are experiencing a loss of a relationship, difficult time communicating in your relationships, disrupted sleep, reduced pleasure in previously enjoyable activities, excessive worry/concern, workplace distress, job loss/transition, finding it hard to cope with stress and pressure of daily life, or finding it challenging in adapting to new roles within your life, then allow me to help.

Within my therapeutic practice, I create a safe and comfortable environment within which we will work collectively in exploring, processing, and constructing effective solutions to help restore calm and peace within all domains of your life.  With the right support and guidance, we can find remarkable resiliency and persevere in face of adversity.

Derek Robinson, M.Ed.
Registered Psychologist/ Therapist

Hello, my name is Derek Robinson and I have been working as a Registered Psychologist since 2005. I moved to Calgary in 2002 after graduating from the University of Lethbridge with a Master of Education specialized in Counselling Psychology. As a former athlete my research focused on Junior A hockey.

As a member of the Virtuous Circle Counselling Team, I bring 20 years of experience in private practice and counselling work doing assessment, conceptualization, interventions, and maintenance with a variety of populations. My professional approach is grounded in Reality Therapy, Cognitive-Behaviour-Therapy, the Mindfulness-Acceptance-Commitment approach, ACT and Solution Focused Therapy. I strongly believe in the counselling relationship in understanding another’s perception and purpose of behaviour while exploring, supporting, and achieving goals, wants, and needs.

Mental Performance Consultant work has also allowed me to work in the trenches of elite sport. The values of teamwork, honesty, and accountability has always energized my focus in supporting athletes, coaches, and staff through the 2005 Canada Summer Games as well as the last 4 Winter Olympic Games in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2018. I have had the opportunity to work with teams and organizations such as Hockey Canada, Speed Skating Canada, Alpine Canada as well as professional opportunities in the Western Hockey League and National Hockey League.

Supporting others to achieve goals, overcome adversity, and enjoy the relationships that matter most is something I will never take lightly and always love doing!

Cara Chalmers, MSW RSW
Registered Social Worker / Therapist

Hello! My name is Cara Chalmers and I am a born and raised Calgarian. I began working as a Registered Social Worker in Alberta in 2006 with my undergraduate degree in Social Work from the University of Calgary. In 2010 I returned to the University of Calgary and completed my Master of Social Work with a Clinical Specialization in 2012. My training and education during these early years of my career focused on working with, adolescents, families and young infants. These experiences formed the foundations of my current practice as a clinician who approaches individuals and families from a developmental and systemic framework.

I believe that everyone wants to live a full and healthy life with meaningful relationships and love for the self and for others. I offer support for both individuals and their families to enhance relationships and carve out a path for the kind of lives that we envision for ourselves. Counselling is about change, and although change isn’t always easy, I believe that it is possible for anyone.

Using modalities that are Post-Modern in nature such as Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Developmental and Attachment Theory and Sensory-Motor Psychotherapy, I work to support clients in identifying and moving towards the change that they desire. Even when you are not sure where to begin, speaking with a counsellor can provide a space to have a purposeful and worthwhile conversation of possibility.
