Anger is a tricky emotion, at times it can feel like out of control and other times it can feel like it is the engine that drives you toward needed changes. If you are feeling out of your control with your anger, we can work to move away from destructive rage into a relationship with your anger that helps you to see that emotion as a guide rather than a demanding boss. We can work to move beyond feeling nothing or absolute rage to recognize the variety of emotions you have and how to care for them. You will start to feel more effective in your relationships and able to roll with the challenges life brings rather than feeling tense from always fighting.

There are three phases in the Anger/Aggression Cycle: (1) Escalation, (2) Explosion and (3) Post-Explosion. Anger is a negative emotion that can build either quickly or slowly over time. Anger is NOT necessarily positive or negative, rather it is a response to environmental cues, triggers and experiences. Aggression on the other hand is the verbal or physical expression of anger through yelling, throwing, hitting or other "acting out". Aggression can lead to very negative consequences. Anger management is designed to help teach you the tools, skills and communication techniques to better and more effectively deal with others. Individuals, families or groups will work in an equine setting to help address anger by learning skills to better express or identify anger at the moment. You will learn different types of communication to help in the expression of anger. You will be able to identify anger and what type of action is needed in most situations. Anger is a normal emotion but how we respond to being angry can be the difference in healthy or unhealthy relationships.
