Depression will affect 1 in 10 people during their lifetime. Some depression is life circumstance related and some can be chronic and long lasting. Cognitive Therapy is very successful in treating depression. Being well versed in this therapy, I can teach people to use the tools to mitigate symptoms of depression and watch for early warning signs of a re-occurring type of depression.

Nichole Behr, LPC, NCC, BSC

Licensed Professional Counselor

N/A, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15228

Having depressive symptoms can be extremely frustrating. Others can perceive your symptoms as you being lazy, uninterested, or lacking motivation. Depression doesn't have to make you feel alone. Talking to someone about these and many other symptoms can be helpful. Maybe you have symptoms and you aren't really even sure what they mean or where they are coming from. This is often seen with depression as well. Talking to a counselor can be helpful in gaining clarity.

William Kelly, Ph.D., NCP, LPC

Psychotherapist/Professional Counselor

5725 Forward Ave, Suite 300, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15217

My work with depression consists largely on quick relieving of the depressive symptoms (i.e., intense sadness, lack of energy) and then, if the individual has a history of repeated depressions, an in-depth exploration to help the individual understand how she/he developed the depression and why it continues to occur. This self-knowledge is essential in arming the individual so they can reduce recurrences of the depressive symptoms (at least at their usual intensity), and to some extent in shifting their personality patterns away from the self-criticism and despair associated with depression.

Michael Pecosh, M.Ed., NCC, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

20 Old Plank Rd. Suite 100, Washington, Pennsylvania 15301

Depression is the unhealthy cousin of sadness. You can be okay when you're sad; when you're depressed, you're not okay. When I work with people experiencing depression, sometimes I help them to move themselves from sadness to depression. Sometimes it isn't realistic to think that you'll be happy; it is realistic to think that you can be okay. Come in and let's have a talk and we'll see if we can figure out how to make you okay again.

Linda Shreve, LPC

Psychotherapist, MS, LPC, NCC

Morgantown Mall, 5000 Greenbag Road, E7, Morgantown, West Virginia 26501

Depression affects many individuals, and often, individuals are not aware that depression is causing them to feel bad and they may struggle to understand what is happening to cause them to feel sad, to not want to get out of bed, to lose interests in things they once enjoyed, or to withdraw from family and friends and the people they love the most. For some, thoughts of harming themselves or even ending their life seems like the only solutions to the misery and agony they experience. I will help individuals learn to recognize and understand symptoms of depression and how to better manage their mood by learning to identify stressors and triggers and then learning to apply Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioral strategies to help alleviate depression.
