Trying to have healthy, loving, and accepting relationships with multiple individuals who hold different traits, values and behaviours that may be in conflict with our own can become overwhelming and feel almost impossible. Here at Belland Psychotherapy, we provide Family Therapy and believe it is important to foster familial relationships by challenging the dynamics of these relationships, drawing attention to the attachment styles that each person holds within the family and addressing pain and hurt that may be negatively impacting the ability to communicate and develop understanding.

Family dynamics are complicated. Each family has established patterns, such as how everyone communicates within the family system, how they deal with stressful situations and conflict, their roles in the family unit and how members seek support from one another. Families are complicated. This is why we work from a family systems approach as we do not believe that one person is the problem, but rather we look at ways to improve the overall family system so that things can flow more smoothly for all. Our family therapy can involve some, or all, family members. The focus of family therapy is to allow for everyone to feel heard, identify family strengths, and make adjustments for areas of improvement.

We will work together to achieve more harmony & less conflict in your family. We may need to work through helping you & your family members adjust to difficulties or transitions you are going through or have gone through. Each family member's opinions (including children) will be valued. All family members will be validated & each person will be given a voice & time to share their thoughts on what is & isn't working in family life. I have years of experience helping clients with: parent-child conflict; parent disagreements; blended family issues; coping with a sick or mentally ill family member; dealing with trauma and loss; grief. We will work to achieve compromise.
