It is my belief that addiction is purely the symptom of underlying pain, shame and hurt. Addicts are people who have found a temporary relief from their problems that has caused long-term consequences and even more problems. I have found that addressing the "real issues" which oftentimes are trauma, abuse and negative life events that were so overwhelmingly difficult that running away or numbing out seemed to be the answer. I combine my training as a Certified Addiction Professional with Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) to resolve the underlying pain and trauma that addiction fails to address to make it easier for clients to enter into full recovery

Addictions can begin subtly and progress slowly or rapidly. Although many people don't realize it substance or process addiction is a mental health disorder. Without intervention to curb addictive thinking the maladaptive behaviors can present significant negative consequences that impair healthy lifestyle and relationships. My experiences in a substance abuse rehabilitation center, as group facilitator, primary therapist, and EMDR Certified Trauma therapist, has led to on-going treatment in my private practice for many clients in recovery. Co-occurring disorders including; anxiety, panic, and depression are treatable. Admitting we need professional help and have lost control is Step 1 !

Addiction is a life or death situation if it goes untreated. We have specialized assessment and treatment protocols with measurable outcomes to treat addiction. The treatment we offer include cognitive behavioral therapy, neurofeedback, alpha-stim, HRV biofeedback, AVS and more depending upon the addicition and the co-occurring issues. Neurofeedback has been shown to decrease relapse and increase sobriety by up to 77% post 1 year of treatment in studies by Peniston and UCLA. Alpha-stim (CES) assists with the anxiety that many people in recovery are suffering with and assists with managing symptoms and decreases the need to self-medicate to manage the anxiety.
